Notice Concerning the Handling of Importation of Low-Value Goods in Singapore from January 2023
Disclaimer: This response is in accordance with the notice from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), but we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of this information. For further details or clarifications, please directly contact IRAS.
Thank you for your continued patronage of 8mart.
In Singapore, the import of international postal parcels or courier deliveries with a total CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value not exceeding S$400 for non-taxable items was previously exempt from import permits and Goods & Services Tax (GST) payments.
However, effective from January 2023, for goods purchased from overseas GST-registered businesses, GST will be collected at the point of purchase. For more information, please visit: IRAS Website on GST and Digital Economy.
Currently, Habibi, Inc. does not fulfill the GST registration requirements in Singapore and, therefore, will not be registering for GST collection. As such, for purchases made through 8mart, we will not be collecting GST from our customers in Singapore. Once we meet the registration criteria, we will initiate the GST registration process and promptly inform you of the change.
Important Note:
Our not collecting GST does not exempt you from potential GST charges by customs or shipping service providers at the time of importation. For more detailed information, we recommend contacting IRAS directly.
