[Important] Notice Regarding International Shipping From January 1, 2026

Thank you for your continued support of 8mart.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, shipping costs across all carriers have continued to rise due to increasing fuel prices, labor costs, and other operating expenses. As a result, shipping rates have been revised upward almost every year.

Below, we would like to provide you with the latest updates by shipping carrier.

Japan Post
As of December 31, 2025 (Wednesday), Japan Post will discontinue the registered mail option for Small Packets.
By adding registered mail, shipments previously benefited from tracking services and, in many regions, face-to-face delivery.

Japan Post's Official announcement:
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/notification/pressrelease/2025/00_honsha/0624_01_01.pdf

Accordingly, 8mart will discontinue Small Packet shipments after December 29, 2025 (Monday).

As an alternative, International ePacket Light, a simplified service similar to registered Small Packets (formerly International ePacket), will be available.

Service details:
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/service/epacketlight_en.html

However, compared to the previous service, please note the following limitations and changes:
- The JPY 6,000 insurance coverage per package is no longer included; however, as before, we can request an investigation from the carrier in the event of delivery issues.
- The number of eligible destination countries and regions is reduced compared to Small Packet, and the service will be available to 138 countries and regions.
This includes Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, and many others.

- While tracking is available, delivery is non-face-to-face (e.g., mailbox delivery).
- Valuables (cash, jewelry, precious metals, etc.) cannot be shipped using this service.

Because this International ePacket Light service is a simplified version of registered Small Packets, the shipping cost is expected to be JPY 90 cheaper per package in all countries and regions.
However, as an increase in delivery-related issues is anticipated, 8mart will apply the following conditions:
- The maximum product value per package is limited to JPY 40,000.
- For packages with a product value between JPY 10,000 and JPY 40,000, a 5% service fee will be charged on the portion exceeding JPY 10,000.

This is a non-refundable service fee to cover additional handling and administrative costs associated with increased delivery risks.

Examples:
Product value of JPY 10,000 → No service fee.
Product value of JPY 20,000 → (JPY 20,000 − JPY 10,000) × 5% = JPY 500, charged separately from the International ePacket Light shipping fee.

As with other optional service fees, this service fee is included in the declared customs value.

From the standpoint of ensuring safe, fast, and reliable delivery for our customers, 8mart continues to strongly recommend Japan Post EMS and DHL Express, as we have in the past.

DHL and FedEx
For shipments dispatched on or after December 29 (Monday), new shipping rates effective from January next year will apply. As a result, shipping fees are expected to increase by several percent across all countries and regions.
In addition, changes to remote area classifications may occur.
The updated rate tables and remote area lists are expected to become available after the New Year.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of 8mart.
