Notice Regarding Use of the Item Request Form

Thank you for using 8mart.

The Item Request Form is intended for customers who are genuinely considering purchasing an item through 8mart.

Recently, we have seen an increasing number of cases where customers ask our staff to search for products, check availability, or confirm details such as domestic shipping costs, but then do not place an order through 8mart.

Our basic service fee is only ¥500 per item and is normally charged when an order is actually placed. However, some requests require our staff to spend tens of minutes searching for products or checking details.

For this reason, customers with no previous order history must place at least one order with 8mart before asking our staff to search for products on their behalf.

There is no minimum value for this first order.

However, if we reasonably determine that an order was placed primarily to gain access to our item search assistance rather than as a genuine purchase, we may require that order to be shipped internationally before accepting further item search requests.

If you have already found an available item yourself, you may still use the Item Request Form to provide us with the product URL and request proxy purchasing, even if you have no previous order history.

You can also use 8mart’s Mercari Marketplace to search directly for items listed on Mercari, Japan’s largest C2C marketplace. Simply enter any keyword into the search box, add the item to your cart, and place your order without using the Item Request Form.

In other words, this restriction applies to requests that require our staff to search for products on your behalf. It does not prevent new customers from using 8mart to purchase items they have already found themselves.

Customers with previous order history may continue to use the Item Request Form for item searches.

However, if you repeatedly ask us to search for products or check details but do not purchase the proposed items, we may restrict your use of the Item Request Form or, in some cases, suspend your account.

As stated on our Pricing page, if your purchase rate for requests remains below 50% for more than two weeks, you may also be charged up to 50% of the 8mart basic service fee.

If you have specific requirements regarding price, condition, or other details, we recommend finding a suitable listing yourself before submitting it to 8mart. This allows you to confirm in advance that the item meets your budget and requirements.

The Item Request Form is provided to help customers purchase items through 8mart. It is not intended to be used as a free research service.

We would prefer not to impose restrictions like these. However, they are necessary for us to continue providing high-quality service at affordable rates and to ensure that we can continue giving adequate support to customers who use our service as intended.
