Notice regarding Changes to International Shipping Using FedEx
* Please be assured that there will not be a significant increase in FedEx shipping rates as a result of these changes. This will give you more flexibility when receiving your package. Additionally, if you prefer the fastest shipping method, we recommend using DHL.
Thank you for always using 8mart.
We would like to inform you that the service for shipping method using FedEx will change starting August 15th, 2024.
Due to the rapid depreciation of the Japanese yen and the surge in crude oil prices caused by recent international conflicts, pressure to increase international shipping costs in Japan has been rising.
Recently, FedEx informed us of an increase in the existing FedEx International Priority(IP) rates from August 15th. After negotiations with FedEx, we received a proposal to introduce a new service called FedEx International Connect Plus(FICP), which maintains almost the same rates as before.
This new service covers almost all the countries where 8mart ships, so we expect to maintain the rates almost at the same level as before.
Here are the most notable changes:
1. IP used to have a transit time of 1-2 business days to various parts of the world, but with FICP, it will be 2-3 business days, meaning delivery might take 1-2 additional business days.
2. Since FICP is the ideal service for e-commerce, it will allow our customers to access nighttime and weekend deliveries, and in some countries, they will have more options for package pickup locations than before.
3. For shipments to Australia, the actual weight must be less than 20 kg, and the total length of the three dimensions of the package must be less than 120 cm.
4. For shipments to Singapore, the actual weight must be less than 10 kg, and the longest side of the package must not exceed 43 cm.
Since most shipments from 8mart are small parcels weighing less than 10 kg, and shipping to Singapore and Australia is often cheaper with DHL, the impact of these changes is expected to be limited.
Please note that if you use FedEx, the delivery of packages may take 1-2 business days longer than before. Therefore, if you want to receive your packages as quickly as possible, we recommend using DHL.
The new rate table will be available from August 15th.
